National Library Board Tabletop Games Festival 2024 - Highlights and Interviews

Discover the excitement of Tabletop Games Festival organized by Singapore's National Library Board —an immersive weekend celebrating board games, tabletop role-playing games and more. Join us as we recap the highlights of the event.

The Tabletop Games Festival was a two-day event held on 22 and 23 June 2024 at the Singapore National Library to celebrate the world of board games and tabletop gaming. Enthusiasts of all ages gathered to experience open game play sessions, demonstrations and live shows, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with fun and learning.

In the basement, a free-play zone featured booths and games from Singapore game designers such as Capital Gains Studio, Nekomancy, Origame and Playlogue Creations for attendees to explore a variety of games. There was also a Magic: The Gathering booth where attendees could learn how to play the popular trading card game.

The Plaza at the outdoor area on Level 1 was dedicated to Pokémon, offering learning sessions, a free battle zone, a pop-up store and tournaments on both days.

Inside the visitor briefing room on level 1, guests enjoyed insightful talks and workshops related to tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs) by groups like The Legitimate Business, TableMinis, The Alternative RPG Club and Criticals & Fumbles. There was also a talk by Origame on designing Singapore into board games and a Magic: The Gathering deck-building workshop by Sharon Foong. On the second day, TableMinis captivated audiences with a live Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) show in the lobby.

On Level 5, the Imagination and Possibility Rooms hosted a wide variety of TTRPGs. The Tabletop Collective ran Dungeons & Dragons marathons and introductory sessions, while TableMinis offered beginner tasters throughout the event. GuildHall presented games like Call of Cthulhu and Zombicide Chronicles and The Alternative RPG Club featured TTRPGs based on franchises such as Avatar: The Last Airbender and Star Wars.

At The Pod on Level 16, Shai conducted a D&D 101 workshop and TableMinis held a D&D live show on the first day. The second day saw Singapore Wargamers and Hex and Counter Wargames offering wargaming experiences, along with a Tank Clash session by Ameba Games.

The Tabletop Games Festival was a resounding success, bringing together gaming enthusiasts from all walks of life. Whether you were a novice or a seasoned gamer, the event offered something for everyone. We look forward to seeing you at the next Tabletop Games Festival, where more adventures in tabletop gaming await!
